Q&A:
How much does this cost?
What do you need from me to start work?
Can I use your animations or images however I want?
What kinds of formats can you deliver in? DVD? VHS?
Who owns the copyright to the work I hire you to produce?
How long does it take to get the work back?
Do you work overtime? What if my deadline is really soon?
What is your affiliation with trinity3d.com?
How long have you been doing this?
A: We charge $75/hr. We only bill for our time consumed, not per image or per animation second, and not for computer rendering time. Most substantial projects come in at around $500 to $10,000, with an average 1 minute interior fly-through costing $2000 - $5000 depending on complexity. Some simple projects of a few photo composites with reworked exterior elements may be only a few hundred dollars. We work to keep our efficiency high as a competitive edge.
A: Typically we would need a percentage of the total proposal fee, along with the elements needed to construct your project. Typically these include sketches, drawings, photos, CAD files, product spec sheets (for elements we must construct from photos, for example chairs and light fixtures), color, fabric and carpet swatches, etc. Items may be sent digitally or mailed. See process for more information.
A: Trinity usually offers its finished work royalty-free for unlimited use to customers once they have paid in full.
A: Anything that can be done with a video, or a movie, or an image can be done with the movies and images we make. We can deliver stills in any format or printed to any substance. We can deliver animation as computer files (like MPG), on video formats (like DVD or VHS) or even on 35mm movie film. Further, we can output some models to physical form via rapid prototyping. For real-time or out-source work our deliverable is the digital model itself.
A: By law, the work creator owns the copyright. Works created for hire by a full time employee on equipment provided by an employer are owned by the employer. But the person or the company is and remains the copyright holder whether the workproduct is registered at the copyright office or not. So we aren't giving away the copyright, rather we are ceding unlimited use rights to the customer after we are paid in full.
A: Of course it depends on how much work we are doing, but typically our projects last from a week to a couple of months with the average in the middle.
A: We really have to quote these on a case by case deadline. We certainly try to accommodate our customers, and if our workload or schedule will not work with your deadline we must decline. If it is a close call, the bid may reflect working on nights/weekends.
A: Same company. We are dealers for most 3D products as well as animators, and we find that the two sides complement each other and make us better at both.
A: Trinity Animation has been producing custom animation since 1993. Our customers include Autodesk, McDonalds, Sony Pictures/Tristar, Greg Norman Golf Design, Butler Manufacturing, Caterpillar and many other firms of all sizes, as well as individuals. Some of our
press coverage mentions our projects, and this site has more details on company founder Jim Lammers.
